Summer is approaching, which means that the festival season is upon us! We at SDC would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the different contracts used for some of the New York City theatre festivals that will soon be underway:

New York Musical Theatre Festival
July 8-28, 2013

Midtown International Theatre Festival
July 15 – August 4, 2013

New York International Fringe Festival
August 9 – 25, 2013

Why I Cast That Actor
One of the most popular columns in SDC Journal, Why I Cast That Actor, is now open to submissions from SDC’s Membership at large. If you have a casting story that you’d like to share, please email SDCJournal@SDCweb.org. Include your name, the name of the actor, the show and the theater where the production occurred.

Annual Dues Deadline

Members, please be advised that the deadline to pay your annual 2013 dues is June 30. Payment must be received before July 1 in order to avoid late penalties. You can pay your statement online via credit card at http://www.sdcweb.org/make-a-payment/member-payments/ or mail a check made payable to SDC. 2013-14 Observerships applications are now available. The SDCF Observership Program grants emerging directors and choreographers 25 paid opportunities to observe the work of master directors and choreographers. SDCF Observers have access to the entire rehearsal process, from first rehearsal through previews to opening night.

Emerging Artists Symposium: Plays On June 17th in NYC, SDCF will host its Emerging Artists Symposium on Plays with the goals to build community and provide information on craft and career to emerging directors and choreographers. Participants will spend the day discussing conceiving, developing, and directing plays with professional directors, producers and industry professionals. A few slots remain open. Apply here.
